The gi is the official uniform for those who participate in Jiu Jitsu. Like many other forms of martial arts, the gi consists of a jacket and a pair of pants, typically in white, blue or black. Folding the Edges
One of the biggest mistakes individuals make when they sew on their Jiu Jitsu patches is leaving the raw edges exposed. This only applies when your patches are done without a finished border. This will lead to ragged edges and loose threads that are unattractive. Instead, it is important to fold over the edges of the patch to ensure a smooth edge, regardless of the shape of the patch. Fold the edges over and then position the patch in the appropriate location to sew it securely in place.
Placing the Patch

If you have never sewed patches onto a gi before, it may be best to turn the task over to a professional. Many dry cleaners will complete the sewing for a small fee to ensure they are secure.
